Well, it's mid June and I wanted to finally get in touch with all of you and update you with what's happening this summer in Mike Gibbons music land. The big news that I'd like to share with all of you is that I've just received official confirmation that my song "Mason Jar Dreams" has been selected for the upcoming KFOG Local Scene CD. Along with placement on the compilation CD, the song will be in rotation on KFOG FM beginning in August, which is local music month on the internationally known San Francisco FM rock station. I've been knocking on their door for the past few years now and I'm very excited to have the opportunity to have my music shared with KFOG's listeners. I'll be sure to keep you SF locals posted on what's happening this August with regard to local KFOG events that I may be participating in.
I will be playing an upcoming show in San Francisco....a headlining set at Hotel Utah on Friday July 10th...please mark your calendars and join me for that one with my friends, singer/songwriter Rick Hardin and solo cellist extraordinaire Matthew Schoening.
And....for you Southern Californians, I'll be performing at the California Music Festival over 4th of July weekend in Ventura. My performance will be at 8pm on the 4th of July.....followed by fireworks.

GREAT WHITE SHARKS AND MARINE CONSERVATION
Like many of my fellow Bay Area residents, I am a transplant. I first moved to Northern California in 2003, drawn here by the allure of the dramatic coastline and a deep-seated desire to live near the ocean. In addition to establishing myself as a singer/songwriter and gaining recognition in the Bay Area music scene, I set out to learn how to surf. Having never experienced the pleasure of surfing in warm, shark-free, water, I fell in love with surfing in Northern California. I managed to rationalize my risk in these waters with the justification that I was much more likely to be injured in a car accident driving to the beach than bitten by a Great White Shark. Still, I could not resist my fascination with the local resident and apex predator -- Mr. White, Carcharodon Carcharias, the White Pointer, the man in the grey suit...---or, more commonly known as the Great White Shark.
